The Office of Student Conduct strives to enhance each student’s educational experience at the University of Alabama by fostering an understanding of the Code of Student Conduct. The office’s primary mission is to cultivate student development, providing a strong foundation for future success, promoting a commitment to responsible citizenship, and encouraging positive life choices grounded in the Capstone Creed values of fairness, integrity, and respect. The office also serves as the primary campus resource for resolving cases arising from student non-academic misconduct disciplinary matters.
Formal Hearing Conduct Committee
A formal conduct hearing is led by a Conduct Body, which is made up of trained faculty and staff members from the university. This body’s job is to review the student’s case by examining all documents and statements and hearing testimony from the student and other relevant individuals.
After the review, the Conduct Body privately discusses the case to determine if a policy violation occurred. If they find the student responsible, they will then decide on and issue appropriate sanctions.
If you are a faculty or staff member interested in serving in this capacity, you can contact the Office of Student Conduct to learn more about the requirements.
